Staff

There are 3 podiatrists consulting at the Essendon Foot Clinic. All podiatrists are registered to practice in the state of Victoria and are members of the Australian Podiatry Association.

There are four reception and administration staff who manage the day-to-day running of the clinic. All have extensive experience in working in medical clinics and ensure the practice runs smoothly and efficiently.

  • Bernard Comerford

    Master of Podiatry

    Bernard Comerford is the principal Podiatrist at the Essendon Foot Clinic. He completed his undergraduate Podiatry degree in 1984 and after travelling overseas for 12 months he established his multi-disciplinary practice in Essendon in 1986. Further studies were undertaken in the following years seeing Bernard complete a Post Graduate Diploma in Podiatry at La Trobe University in 1994, his Masters in Podiatry at Curtin University in Perth in 2003 and he is an Endorsed Podiatric Prescriber of Scheduled Medicines in Victoria.

    Bernard has been a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine since 1996 and is currently an external Clinical Studies Supervisor at both La Trobe and Charles Sturt Universities. He is a member of the ANZPAC University Accreditation Panel and the La Trobe University’s External Curriculum Advisory Panel. With a keen interest in skin and nail infections, Bernard undertook intensive training with Cutera to qualify as a Laser Technician and treats fungal nail and plantar warts in his Essendon practice.

    Outside of work Bernard enjoys spending time with his wife Allison and three teenage sons, Aussie Rules Football, fishing and horse racing.

  • Daniel McManus

    B.Podiatry, Endorsed Prescriber

    Daniel completed his undergraduate podiatry degree in 2005 and has since attained his endorsement as a Podiatric Prescriber of Scheduled Medicine in Victoria. Daniel is also a trained Laser Technician treating fungal nails, plantar warts and some soft tissue pathologies. Daniel maintains an interest in all facets of Podiatric care and is a frequent attendee to Sports and Biomechanics, Paediatric and High Risk seminars and webinars. He has previously held the role of chair of the Australian Podiatry Association Special Interest Group for Paediatrics. Daniel also works part time for Monash Health Community’s Child and Family Team in a specialised paediatric role as part of a multi-disciplinary team involving Physiotherapists and Exercise Physiologists.

    He endeavours to practise evidence based care by studying current research and its clinical implications. Daniel is local to Essendon and enjoys running, having completed in the last 4 Melbourne Marathons with a personal best time of 3 hours and 20 minutes.
